OUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF GOD!

OUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF GOD!

“The kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17:21

I post my 75th birthday picture, not to brag but because it reveals what we can do for ourselves.  I simply am a living example.

I’ve always eaten healthy foods … gotten at least 6 hrs. of sleep nightly (even when working an 8-5 job, being a single Mom, going to graduate school, being Editor of our state rehabilitation counseling journal, and making the majority of clothes for my daughter and self) … loved to hike or walk.  The only time I have had hospital insurance was during the 17 yrs. I worked in state employment.  I have never had a serious illness or injury … have no pains, including no headaches … had the flu once in 1987 … my last cold was somewhere around 1989-90.  I have taken a short nap nearly every day of my life.  In other words, I included my well-being in my daily schedule, no matter how busy.  (1987-1989 I worked in a high rise office building with windows that could not be opened, thus no way to have fresh air.)

My secret?  I do what I love—now, it is to research and write!  I recognize that my physical body is the Temple of God, so I take good care of it.  I love people and communicating with them.  I have never crammed myself into the status quo box and remained there no matter how much I disagreed with the teachings within that box.  I know the excitement of having an open mind, eager to learn something new everyday—the freedom to seek Truth without fear of being expelled from the status quo box.  I live free of the status quo and that allows me to “seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”

It is so much easier to take care of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health than it is to be sick and to allow our physical body to disintegrate from lack of holistic care.  Ill health affects adversely every other area of life.

Holding in “who we truly are” … resisting the urge to seek answers to our questions – or – to even “think” about our questions that don’t conform to the status quo … fearing being judged “not quite right, a heretic, crazy” and therefore remaining silent for fear of losing friendships or jobs—all of this takes its toll on the physical body.

For example:  being closed minded can result in arthritis … not expressing love in some satisfying form can create heart problems.  When we cling to negative emotions like resentment, anger, or fail to forgive, we harm ourselves … those negative energy pockets end up finding expression through some form of dis-ease.

I learned during my counseling career to observe myself honestly … if I feel anger or some other negative emotion, recognize it rather than repress it or call it something else, deal with it, then forgive and release it.  We need to keep our energy field as clean as possible.

I decided as a young person that I wanted my Temple of God to be as beautiful and trouble free as I could possibly maintain it.  I innately knew to do so.

Everyone can begin this moment to view their bodies as the Temple of God … all can decide to take very good care of their individual Temples.

This is especially important as we ascend with Mother Earth in our physical bodies.  No longer does “dust to dust” have any meaning.  Our bodies are transitioning from a carbon-based structure to a crystalline structure.  We need to also change how we think about and treat our bodies—the Temple of God!

“The Kingdom of God is within you.”

And you!

And you!

And you!

POSTSCRIPT:  HELPFUL HINTS FROM A FRIEND –

I concur with what you’ve said. And for me, I add that whenever we are finding our life NOT going in the way of our bliss–if there are turns and challenging passages–that embracing it all no matter what is what keeps us in the flow, in our purpose. In other words, purpose comes from within, our attitude (not the best word) of who we truly are and how we are living our lives–and the “outside” environment, life situations, activities, behaviors, etc are mirrors that guide us internally.

… a testament to your diet and lifestyle choices, to be sure–AND something that extends deeper than that. I believe it’s your connection to the love you truly are, and your commitment to live from that.

POSTSCRIPT:  A friend sent me this channeling of the spirit being called  “Bashar” today, one day after I posted the above article.  The woman asking questions of Bashar is talking about her physical body.  HINT:  Bashar can seem really “in your face” and blunt, but he is wise … he allows no room for wiggling out of facing your challenge.  I encourage you to listen to the end.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mfIGlxh9yc

YOU WILL LIKELY BE EXPERIENCING UNSETTLING MOOD SWINGS

NOTE BY NANCY:  This message seems particularly relevant to the controversy presently raging in the USA over GUN CONTROL.  As Jesus states, Earth is moving away from the old ways … we have experienced many prior lifetimes of believing that violence solves problems … yet, NEVER has violence done anything but attract more violence, hatred, and fear.  Universal Law is that “LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE” … that Law never fails.

Now that Earth has shed the 3rd dimension … is moving through the 4th aiming for the 5th dimension, guns will no longer be able to withstand the higher vibrations … they will fall away because the context in which guns exist is one of fear, killing, and defense against the enemy.

In the 5th dimension, there is ONLY Love, Peace, and Abundance for All.  This is the Divine Plan presenting unfolding and as Jesus states, “it will not fail!”

You will likely be experiencing unsettling mood swings

Jesus

Humanity is undergoing an immense and much needed healing.  It is part of the process that is bringing you forwards to full wakefulness.  For many it is stirring up strong feelings and emotions that are not familiar, either because they have been deeply buried, or because they are relating to karmic issues from previous life times that have not yet been cleared, or they may be related to friends, relatives, or even work associates for whom they have agreed to carry and release some of the load that person is working with.

If this is your path you will likely be experiencing unsettling mood swings to which you are unaccustomed.  Do not engage with them.  Observe them and let them go, because that is all that you need to do.  If you engage with them they will intensify, confusing you, and making it more difficult for you to release them.  If this does happen, just relax into a meditative state and intend to release them. And if you are too emotionally involved to relax into that state, then remind yourselves that your intent is to release them, and then do something to distract you from the intense feelings that have arisen – take a walk, have something to eat, go and hang out with a friend – until they subside.

Humanity has a lot of old memories that need releasing.  Hanging on to old memories of being offended, punished, tortured, or killed feeds the dying embers of the remaining negative energy fields that have for so long driven you into conflict and war.  Holding on to grudges, resentments, insults, and offenses has for eons supported the negative energies that have consistently led you into fear and anger, and fueled an overwhelming desire for vengeance and retribution – a desire that can never be satisfied because it becomes all-consuming.

The only way out of this endless loop of violence begetting violence is to refuse to engage with it.  For many who remain deeply asleep, unaware of their need to evolve spiritually, it seems insane not to seek justice and restitution.  They do not realize that what they seek is what everyone else is seeking, seeing only the wrongs against themselves and not seeing, or refusing to see, the wrongs in which they themselves have engaged.

Love is your essence.  It is indestructible and infinitely persistent, and all will succumb to Its gentle and loving embrace which is constantly reaching up to you from the inner depths of your being.  There is not one of you who is not receiving intuitive guidance to forgive those who have hurt you, but your egos resist because when you give in, as you all will, they lose their power.

Your ego is a part of you that appears to be split off, separate, and which runs with its own fear-filled and self-centered agenda, thinking that it can destroy the opposition and rule the world.  Most humans discover its limitations during childhood and learn to negotiate with other egos to form alliances, easing the terror of separation or loneliness, but a few will not negotiate or compromise and are either quickly defeated or rise to become dictators of one sort or another as their egos take complete control of them – gurus, father figures, industrial bosses, politicians, church leaders – and spend their earth lives sowing seeds of distrust and betrayal as they attempt to achieve positions of power that they think will make them invincible.  Of course they cannot succeed, but they frequently convince others that safety can only be achieved by holding positions of authority backed up by the force of arms.

Humanity is evolving spiritually, and the rate of that evolution has increased enormously during the last fifty or sixty years, which is why you now see so many — not ego-driven but loving beings — actively involved in bringing peace and harmony to the planet as they strive to raise humanity’s awareness of the insanity of the old ways.  Nevertheless, the energy of the old ways still maintains its hold on those who have bought into authoritarian attitudes as a way to feel secure, and the results of that are apparent in areas where the authorities continue to maintain order by means of enforcement.

You, the Light-holders and wayshowers, are changing that by extending outwards from yourselves the ever-intensifying, divine field of Love, into which you are permanently integrated and anchored, and by intending to share it with all of humanity.  You have been doing this for most of your present earth life time, ever since you awoke to the reality of your essential spiritual nature and became aware that your reason for being embodied was to assist in this massive task of bringing all of your brothers and sisters home to their natural state of living consciously in peace, harmony, and abundance.

The intent for that state is spreading through your collective consciousness and will not be denied, despite the efforts of those who would maintain the old structures that have been dividing you and setting you against one another for so long.  Their time is past, and their power structures are crumbling though poor maintenance and lack of support.  Love is sweeping across the planet and melting all resistance.  Know that this is so, that it is the divine plan, that it cannot fail, and continue to focus on the Light within you so that it blazes out more and more enticingly to induce all with whom you interact by thought, word, or physical presence to go within and find their own Light blazing there and intending to be seen and shared.  You are divinely supported in every moment, and your Father’s Will for Love to prevail, which is also yours, will not be denied.

Your loving brother, Jesus.

THE TRUTH BEHIND CANCER & MEDICINE

THE TRUTH BEHIND CANCER & MEDICINE

A Six Part Series

Note by Nancy:  Before you contribute another penny to cancer research, listen to this complete series.  There have always been cures to cancer … they have simply been stifled by the FDA, AMA, insurance companies, and the pharmaceutical industries.  Their goal is to make and keep you sick.

Until we take back our own power and take charge of our health, we will continue to have a society in which sickness is the norm.

The single most important thing all of us can do for ourselves is to become alkaline by eating lots of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.  I recommend Dr. Theodore A. Baroody’s book entitled, Alkalize Or Die.  After listening to this series, you will know that Dr. Baroody’s title is not over-stated.  Our pH level is of utmost importance to a healthy body.

Give yourself and your loved ones the gift of listening to all 6 of these tapes, then revamping your diet to include lots of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.

THE BIBLE – THE STORY OF OUR SOUL’S JOURNEY THROUGH THE PLANE OF DUALITY – DRAWS TO A CLOSE

THE BIBLE – THE STORY OF OUR SOUL’S JOURNEY

THROUGH THE PLANE OF DUALITY – DRAWS TO A CLOSE

Nancy B. Detweiler, M.Ed., M.Div.

As the cycle of duality draws to a close, let us use this Lenten season to ponder:  did I understand the true import of my sacred text?  Am I ready to make the approaching evolutionary leap to the 5th dimensional plane of love and light?

The Bible is one of the sacred texts for the 3rd dimensional plane of duality.  Its writers all lived on the plane of duality and were therefore confronted with good and evil.  Although inspired, they wrote from the perspective of learning to deal with duality in a manner that would allow them and us to awaken to the higher planes of life.  Many pointed the way, but did we comprehend?

In the first chapters of Genesis, we find a symbolic story of the Earth’s creation.  “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”  (Genesis 1:31)

Into this lush paradise, humankind entered.  We were gifted with freewill and given the opportunity to choose how we live our lives.  “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”  (Genesis 2:16-17)  God was explaining that once we choose to evolve on the plane of duality, we die to the awareness of all that is within the cosmos.

Our perspective becomes extremely limited.  We die to the knowledge of who we truly are as made in the image of God—child gods.  We die to the understanding that we are One with God.  We begin to feel separate and alone.  We die to the consciousness of the Garden of Eden and instead, enter a world in which we experience good and evil.  Our physical bodies become sick, decay, and die.  We appear blind to a world of plenty for all and accept as normal:  enemies/wars, hatred, anger, jealousy, resentment, competition, egoism, discrimination, emotional and physical pain, revenge, and blood sacrifice.  And by far, the most insidious of all is the personification of Creator God as a being with less integrity than we possess.

The writers of those books, eventually accepted into the biblical canon, did not write with that intention.  Instead, they wrote within the cultural milieu with which they were familiar.  Their writings were often inspired for the betterment of those within their community.  However, by the time the canonical books were written, tens of thousands of years had passed on the plane of duality.  Spiritual blindness was well established.

As we read the biblical account, it is possible to perceive layers of meaning.  The inspired message often shines through; but few take the time to comprehend it.  Humankind has never been abandoned, even though we came to believe that is the case.  Advanced beings have periodically incarnated on the plane of duality in order to give humankind a jump start to spiritual awakening.  They have become a part of daily life on Earth and attempted to reveal Truth to us.

Let’s look at a few biblical examples.

“And Enoch found favor in the presence of God, and disappeared; for God took him away.”  (Genesis 5:24)  Enoch is the first biblical character to ascend from the plane of duality back into the higher dimensions, without physical death.

Melchizedek, a priest king of Salem (Jerusalem) is another example of an advanced being dwelling on the plane of duality, without experiencing a physical birth or death.  “Neither his father nor his mother is recorded in the genealogies; and neither the beginning of his days nor the end of his life; but, like the Son of God, his priesthood abides forever.  Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave tithes and paid head tax….  But this man who is not recorded in their genealogies took tithes even from Abraham and blessed him who had received the promises.  Beyond dispute, he who was less was blessed by him who was greater than himself.”  (Hebrews 7:3-4, 6-7)

Elijah is a third example of higher beings interacting with humanity on the plane of duality.  “And it came to pass, as they still went on and talked, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire, and separated the two; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.”  (2 Kings 2:11)  Elijah was beamed up into a space craft.  He and his fellow prophets knew ahead of time that he would be picked up.

Ezekiel provides a fourth example.  “And I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud, and a flaming fire and brightness was round about it, and out of the midst of it there came as it were a figure out of the midst of the fire.” (Ezekiel 1:4)  The book of Ezekiel tells the story of an extraterrestrial being working with Ezekiel by giving him instructions regarding his mission and transporting him from place to place in a space ship.

The year 2012 arrives amidst much talk on the internet about humanity ascending and the fact that extraterrestrials with their space craft are present with us.  The above four examples illustrate what is possible for each of us.  As 2012 marks the end of the cycle of duality on Earth, we can achieve a level of spiritual maturity that will allow us to physically ascend to higher dimensions.  We may also work in cooperation with our galactic family for the healing of our planet and its inhabitants.  Our sacred text has prepared us to be reunited with our Star families.  Have we recognized that fact?

Elijah taught us the lesson of sharing when we think we have nothing to share.  Sharing reaps abundance.  We also see in Elijah the power to channel divine healing energy … to restore physical plane life.  (I Kings 17:10-24)

While living on the plane of duality, we have lived with the consciousness of lack, the requirement to work hard because we are taught there is not enough to go around and we may be the ones who are deprived.  Our present society is torn apart by the varying theories that separate the hardworking from the supposed lazy, the need to share from the propensity to deprive those who do not meet our standards.

Have we heard Elijah?  Have we integrated Jesus’ teaching:  “Do not worry for your life, what you will eat and what you will drink, nor for your body, what you will wear…. Who is among you who by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? …  Your Father in heaven knows that all of these things are also necessary for you.  But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all those things shall be added to you.”   (Matthew 6:25, 27, 32-33)

We have drawn much comfort from the Psalms, but have we been aware of the frequency with which enemies is mentioned?  Thy preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.”  (Psalm 23:4)  We assume that having enemies—domestic or foreign—is the norm.

We have created a God who hates, who takes revenge, who punishes for eternity.  In turn, we assume we have the right or obligation to hate, take revenge, to punish for life.  Have we been aware of the subliminal messages within the Bible that are the result of its writers living on the plane of duality?  “The proud shall not stand in thy sight; thou hatest all workers of iniquity….  Condemn thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their wickedness, for they have provoked thee.”  (Psalm 5:5,10)  “Let all my enemies be ashamed and defeated; let them turn back and be destroyed suddenly.”  (Psalm 6:10)  When we read such passages, we unconsciously register a God who hates some of creation, who grows angry, who takes revenge.   If hate, anger, and revenge characterize God, then our own response to these emotions is much more nonchalant.

We have grown accustomed to portraying God as Warrior.  We pray for our side to win.  “And Joshua conquered all these kings and their countries at one time; because the Lord God of Israel was with him and it was he who fought for Israel.”   (Joshua 10:43)  “Joshua made war a long time with all those kings….  For it was the Lord’s doing to harden their hearts so that they would come against Israel in battle, in order that they might be utterly destroyed and might receive no mercy, but be exterminated, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.”  (Joshua 11:18,20)

We blame God for all the things we cannot explain.  The biblical book of Job is an excellent example.  “God can do anything God wants to do” is a common statement that few of us attempt to deny.  Like Job, we grit our teeth and try to remain faithful:  “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”  (Job 1:21)  We ponder the question “Why do good people suffer?”  But we most often fail to reconcile our religious beliefs with our inner intuitive knowing.  Job knew he was not being punished because he had broken a religious law.  The Book of Job depicts his—and our own—personal journey of reconciliation with our inner intuitive knowing.  Job is Every Individual.  Have we recognized our inner knowing and sought our own Truth?  Or, have we given our power over to the religious authorities?  We cannot give our power away and develop as the child gods that we are.

Do we question the biblical portrayals of God as a punishing God, a capricious God, a Warrior God?  Do we ask “How can a God of Absolute Love behave in this way?”  Do we truly believe God is Love or do we attempt to believe it while repressing those annoying questions that keep poking their heads into our conscious awareness, insisting upon being answered?  How often I have heard ministers and Sunday School teachers say, “Don’t ask questions or you will lose your faith.”

Recognizing and loving God is not an act of repression.

Have we diligently sought to know Truth?  For example, Job is one of the most misunderstood books in the Bible.  It is actually the story of humanity’s journey into enlightenment or ascension.  But, in order to know that, we must delve into the deeper layers of its message and that requires a knowledge of metaphysics.[i]

There are biblical scholars who have interpreted the Bible metaphysically.[ii]  The deeper messages resonant strongly with Universal Truth:  God Is Love; we live in a cosmos filled with loving beings ready to assist us in navigating our way out of the plane of duality.

The major reason we blame God for all that we cannot explain is because the Church has denied us the opportunity to learn about reincarnation as the means of Soul progression.  The Christian arrangement of the books within the Old Testament has as its concluding sentences:  “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.  And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to their children and the heart of the children to their fathers before I come and smite the earth to ruin.”  (Malachi 4:5-6)  The Old Testament ends with the promise that Elijah will reincarnate.

Approximately 400 years, called the Intertestamental Period, pass between the Old Testament and the New Testament.   During this time, the culture of Palestine changed dramatically.  By the time of Jesus, Palestine has become cosmopolitan with major trade routes running through it.  The shipping and fishing industries were flourishing.  Numerous cultural and philosophical influences were present.  Many were highly educated.  Jesus’ maternal uncle, Joseph of Arimathea, was known as one of the most wealthy men in the world.  He owned a shipping business and the tin mines in what is now England.  Jesus frequently traveled with his uncle, who became the legal guardian of the family after Joseph returned to spiritual realms.  Have we considered the fact that the story of Jesus and the New Testament took place within an actual historical setting that can be researched?  Or have we simply believed the simplistic narrative that the Church has propagated?

Each of the four gospels endeavor to tell the story of Jesus.  All were written decades after the conclusion of Jesus’ ministry.[iii]  For modern Christians, the translations and interpretation of these gospels have been influenced by the writings of the Church Fathers during the first eight centuries of the Church.   Numerous creeds were composed in an effort to codify the doctrines of the Christian religion.[iv]  As a result, the gospels have been read within the mindset of the Christian doctrines.  The passages that would be considered heretical teachings by the Church are simply ignored.

The Gospel of John is believed by many biblical scholars to best depict the actual teachings of Jesus.  This gospel reveals a Jesus who came to show the Way back to the Father.  In other words, Jesus came to show humanity how to evolve spiritually to the point of leaving the plane of duality and ascending to higher dimensions.

The concept of a sacrificial lamb or a blood sacrifice has been acceptable to many living on the plane of duality.  It goes along with the God humanity has created—a vengeful God demanding atonement for the mistakes we have made while living on the plane of duality.  This in no way depicts the true God of Absolute Love.  On the higher dimensions, all is love and light and peace.  A God of Love beholds the immaculate conception of all of humanity—made in the image of God.

Jesus incarnated as a Wayshower … he came to show us the Way out of the darkness of the plane of duality.  We lost our way and needed an example to follow.

Because we are accustomed to reading the Bible in accordance with the tenets of Christianity, we do not have the eyes to see what Jesus really taught.  This is especially true when it relates to the I AM sayings.  Jesus taught:  “The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works.”  (John 14:10)  “I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak….  What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me.”  (John 12:49-50)[v]

Jesus channeled the Father who dwells within each of us.  Therefore, when Jesus speaks the I AM sayings, he is channeling the Father.  I AM the light of the world means the Father within each of us is the Light of the World.  I AM the bread of life means the Father within each of us is the bread of life.  During this Lenten Period, read the Gospel of John from the perspective of Jesus speaking the words of the Father.

Jesus repeatedly shifted the attention from himself to the Father.  “The Son can do nothing on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does the Son does likewise.”  (John 5:19)

“My teaching is not mine but his who sent me.  Anyone who resolves to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.  Those who speak on their own seek their own glory; but the one who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and there is nothing false in him.”  (John 7:16-18)  “Whoever believes in me believes not in me but in him who sent me.”  (John 12:44)

Jesus never placed himself above humanity … he came as Elder Brother, Teacher, and Wayshower.  He wanted us to follow his example.  He taught the people “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.  Pray, then, in this way:  Our Father in heaven….”  (Matthew 6:8-9)

Jesus’ expects his disciples to do more than they think they can and grows impatient with them for not doing so.  “When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late; send them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.’  But he answered them, ‘You give them something to eat.’  They said to him, ‘Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?’”  (Mark 6:35-37)

Teacher, I brought you my son; he has a spirit that makes him unable to speak…  I asked your disciples to cast it out, but they could not do so.  He answered them, ‘You faithless generation, how much longer must I put up with you?  Bring him to me.’”  (Mark 9:17-19)

“The one who believes in me (Jesus speaks the words of “our” Father) will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”  (John 14:12)

The Jews took up stones again to stone him.  Jesus replied, ‘I have shown you many good works from the Father.  For which of these are you going to stone me?  The Jews answered, ‘It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you, but for blasphemy, because you, though only a human being, are making yourself God.’  Jesus answered, ‘Is it not written in your law, I said, you are gods?’”   (John 10: 31-34)  Jesus is telling the men who plan to stone him that they are gods.

Jesus tells his disciples a parable about a vine:  “I am the vine, you are the branches.”  Vineyards are a familiar scene in Palestine.  Everyone knows that the branches are outshoots of the vine—made of the same substance.  In fact, it is the branches that bear the fruit.

Have we understood who we truly are?  Have we allowed our elder brother, Jesus, to teach us to do the works that I do?[vi]  Or, have we simply followed Christian doctrine and worshipped him as a being we cannot become?

Four hundred years later, Jesus verifies Malachi’s prophecy.  Following his transfiguration, during which he talked with Elijah and Moses, the disciples asked Jesus, “Why, then, do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?  He replied, ‘Elijah is indeed coming and will restore all things; but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased….  Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them about John the Baptist.”  (Matthew 17:1-16)[vii]    The acceptance of reincarnation while living on the plane of duality allows us to understand ourselves and others on a much deeper level.  Earth has been our schoolhouse; it is here that we have been given opportunity after opportunity to live our lives in accordance with the Universal Laws of Love and Peace, to practice the Law of Attraction, and to awaken to our true identities as child gods—made in the image of God.

A metaphysical interpretation of the New Testament reveals that the major events in Jesus’ life were actually physical plane demonstrations of our own initiatory process toward ascension.  These five events are:  birth, baptism, transfiguration, crucifixion, and ascension.  You may read my article entitled “Ascension” on my website at:  http://www.pathwaytoascension.com/ascension.html

It is important to understand that a metaphysical interpretation of the Bible deals with layers of meaning beneath the literal translation of the Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek and/or Latin words.  Metaphysics means beyond the physical.  A knowledge of metaphysics is required.  It is also helpful to know the history of the Church, simply because so much has been covered up.  Just as reincarnation was declared heretical in the 6th century, so was astrology in the 15th century.  Yet, both are foundations on which the Bible is built.

In the words of Rabbi Joel C. Dobin in his book, TO RULE BOTH DAY & NIGHT:  Astrology in the Bible, Midrash, & Talmud:  “Astrology helps man to understand God’s will and to put himself in balance with Divine and universal forces, thus enriching his life and experience.”  “Astrology revealed to me His order and His beauty, and His place for me in the Divine balance that links God, man, and universe into One Balanced Process which never ends in this life or on other planes of awareness of life.”

Below are photos of ruins of the floor of the synagogue of Hamath Tiberias.  This synagogue was in use during the 6th through the 8th centuries.  The mosaic floor depicts the Astrological Zodiac and thus, its importance in the religious life of ancient Judaism. [viii]

2012 marks the end of the cycle of duality upon Earth.  There is so much we have failed to learn about the Bible—information that adds immensely to its richness and depth.  As we ascend to the higher dimensions, we receive full consciousness  and possess ready access to all knowledge.  No longer will we be fooled into thinking we are less than who we truly are—child gods made in the image of God.

Our sacred text for the cycle of duality closes as it announces:  “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.  And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying,

See, the home of God is

Among mortals,

He will dwell with them as their God;

They will be his peoples,

And God himself be with

Them;

He will wipe every tear from

Their eyes,

Death will be no more;

Mourning and crying and pain

Will be no more,

For the first things have passed away.”

(A.D.).  Tradition attributes the writer of the Gospel of Luke to be Luke, a companion of Paul in Rome around 80-90 C.E. (A.D.)   It must be remembered that all the Gospels were written anonymously.  It is tradition and scholarship that has attempted to discern the author, place, and time.  Although still considered one of the Gospels, the Gospel of John is significantly different from the synoptic gospels.  Mystery surrounds the Gospel of John both as to the time period in which it was written and to the author.  The Beloved Disciple is never identified as John, the son of Zebedee.  “The identity of the author of the Fourth Gospel remains a mystery, perhaps deliberately concealed.”  (Above information was taken from:  Harper’s Bible Commentary)  A thoroughly researched article by Ramon K. A PICTORIAL VIEW OF THE PROCESS OF ASCENSION

A PICTORIAL VIEW OF THE PROCESS OF ASCENSION

Nancy B. Detweiler

Man Visible & Invisible

An Ascended Human Being

Ascension is the process of awakening to higher consciousness.  In order to achieve higher consciousness, we must intentionally focus on holistic growth.  Holistic growth means growth on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  The progress we make is visible to a clairvoyant through our auric field—that field of energy that encircles our being.  The paintings of the auric field found in this article were painted with the help of a clairvoyant.

Physical body – We grow physically by maintaining a healthy lifestyle—balancing work, exercise, and play; getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night; eating nutritious foods and eliminating processed foods.

Emotional or Astral body – We grow emotionally by forgiving self and others, releasing all desire for revenge, anger, competition (competition always includes a winner and a loser, instead of the cooperative effort that results in all being winners), bitterness, fear—all negative emotions.  As we release the negative, we grow emotionally by developing our capacity to focus on the positive emotions of love, caring, empathy, appreciation, nurturance, and encouragement.

Average Human Emotional Body

   Developing Human

Here we can see the progression from the average individual who is largely focused on the emotional level (represented by the intense red) and the holistically developing human.  Note in the developed human the lighter tone of red depicting the emotional (astral) body and the more intense yellow depicting the development of the mental body.  As we ascend in consciousness, we learn to control our emotions with our mind.

Mental body – We grow mentally through developing the intellectual (left) and intuitive (right) brain hemispheres.  While housed within a physical body, the goal is to learn to use both the intellect and intuition in a balanced manner.  We learn to observe our behavior … to think before we simply respond emotionally.  By mentally observing our emotions, we learn to use our mind to control our emotions.  For example:  Someone makes us angry.  We can mentally register this emotion of anger, then decide how we want to respond.  We can exhibit an explosion of anger – or – we can honestly inform the individual that he/she made us angry and explain the reason why.  Exploding with anger is an emotional response; honestly stating the facts is a mental response.  In the process of learning emotional control, we are developing self-discipline, which is also evidence of increasing spiritual maturity.

Lest we misunderstand … we are not controlling our anger when we simply repress that emotion or remain silent.  The only way to control anger is to honestly admit the emotion and seek resolution to the problem creating the anger.  According to the particular situation, this resolution may/may not involve the other person.  This is where truthful journaling can be a tool for transformation—writing down our feelings on a regular basis is an excellent release.  Once they are outside of us and visible on paper, the emotions lose power and we are freed to whatever extent we can release them.

Anger

Fear

Until we learn to honestly express our emotions in ways that are as non-hurtful to others as possible, we repress them, creating havoc within our auric field.  The above paintings depict an aura filled with anger and an aura filled with fear.  Whether or not we are conscious of this anger, fear, or any other negative emotion, its energy is impacting our entire being and can result in physical and/or mental illness.  We develop mentally by allowing these emotions into our conscious awareness and mentally determining how best we can deal with them.

As we mature emotionally and mentally, we increasingly replace our negative feelings and thoughts with a positive.

Average Mental Human

       Developed Mental Human

In the average mental (or scientific) human, note the deep tones of yellow, while the emotional red is still intense.  This individual can be an intellectual while still exhibiting strong emotional tendencies that are not yet balanced.  In the developed mental human, the Mind is now predominant while the emotions have receded.  The emotional body is controlled by the mental body, which grants the individual the conscious choice to exhibit positive emotions such as love.  As we develop our lower bodies, the colors in our aura change.  Brown is the color of greed or ego involvement, both of which can cause us to react emotionally on an UN-conscious basis.  As we develop beyond the lower motivating factors, such as greed, and overcome the personality ego’s dominance, the colors in our aura steadily transform into clear, lovely iridescent colors.

Spiritual Body – We grow spiritually by evolving from a focus on worshipping another being to recognizing that every human being is a spark of the One Source.

Average Devotional Human

The average devotional human is most likely one who follows the dictates of a chosen religion.  Although there can be spiritual dedication to religious beliefs, there is not necessarily a focus on transmuting the negativity within our lower bodies.  Instead, there may be the tendency to punish self or to believe that God punishes us for being a sinner, separate from God.  In the above painting, the astral (emotional) body is intense.  Blue represents devotion and, in this painting, is tinged with brown.  The average devotional individual most often adheres to a religion in order to be considered by God as worthy of heaven—thus the evidence of ego involvement.

As child gods, we all have the same potential to evolve into Gods.  Ascension is moving away from a focus on the emotional and mental bodies and becoming one with the spark of God that dwells within each of us.  As we do so, we move beyond the intellect that is dependent upon what can be perceived via the five human senses and focus on the Intuitive Mind that has access to absolute knowing of Truth.  No longer do intellectual doctrines have meaning.  Elizabeth Claire Prophet’s Divine Self Chart explains this best.

Divine Self Chart

In this illustration, we see the physical, emotional, and lower (intellect) mental bodies in the bottom figure.  This physical self is standing within the purple transmuting flame—a gift of grace given to us for assistance in ridding our lower energetic bodies of all negativity.  Note a white cord running from the top of the head >>> through the illustration representing the Christ Self, Soul, and/or the Higher Intuitive Mind >>> to the I AM PRESENCE or spark of Source God indwelling us.  In actuality all three figures are interpenetrating.  This chart reveals who we are in our totality.

We ascend to higher dimensions of consciousness as we lift our conscious awareness from the bottom figure or physical, emotional, lower mental parts of self >>> to the Soul or Christed/Higher Self figure >>> to our I AM PRESENCE.  The circles around the 3rd figure signify our Causal Body.

The only permanent energy is positive energy.  Negative energy can move no farther than the astral or 4th dimension.  Everything that we do or feel of a positive nature is permanent and stored as treasures in heaven within our individual Causal Body.

2012 marks an evolutionary leap for those of us who choose to ascend into the higher dimensions of consciousness.  It is a time when we will exchange our lower 3rd and 4th dimensional bodies for one suitable for 5th dimensional living.

An Ascended Human Being

Ascension is lifting our beingness to union with our I AM PRESENCE.  On the 5th dimension and above, we will have access to all the treasures of heaven we have stored in our Causal Body by our positive feelings, thoughts, and actions throughout thousands of previous lifetimes.   We will use our talents in a myriad ways as we progress from 5th to ever-higher dimensions, until we reach the ultimate goal of maturing into a God.

GETTING TO KNOW SELF THROUGH ASTROLOGY

GETTING TO KNOW SELF THROUGH ASTROLOGY

Nancy B. Detweiler, M.Ed., M.Div.

Zodiac Signs, Ruling Planets, & Symbols in their Natural Houses

2012 is to be a year in which we get to know self in preparation for Earth, and those inhabitants who so choose, to ascend to higher dimensions of consciousness.

There are many avenues of assistance in getting to know self.  As a professional counselor who used astrology as a counseling tool, I know first hand that astrology far exceeds all other methods.  Using the client’s astrological natal chart allows very precise, detailed information regarding him/her as a unique individual.  As a professional counselor, I had access to and could compare the results of standardized personality tests with the natal chart.  The two are like nursery school and graduate school in the amount of individualized information they provide.  A standardized test report reads much like a copy of the report on a previous client.  The same is true of all other standardized means of testing or knowing self.

I recently posted an article entitled “Are We Being Who We Really Want To Be?”  https://pathwaytoascension.wordpress.com/2011/12/07/are-we-being-who-we-really-want-to-be/

This article is based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which can be very helpful in determining where an individual is focused in his spiritual evolutionary process.  Using the astrological natal chart in conjunction with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs greatly enhances the knowledge that can be ascertained in terms of individual responses.

Just as Creator God does not duplicate a snow flake, individuals are not duplicated either.   The astrological natal chart is the best possible means to know self as a unique being.  I have found the natal chart to be restricted in the information it affords only by the amount of time allotted to study it.  The natal chart is a limitless treasure chest of self-discovery!

Because it is impossible for one person to study numerous natal charts with great depth, I created a course entitled “Interpreting Your Own Esoteric Astrological Natal Chart for the Purpose of Soul Growth.”  This course is free and on my website at:  http://www.pathwaytoascension.com/astrology/index.htm

For those who simply wish to study their Sun Sign, go to:  http://www.pathwaytoascension.com/astrology/index.htm and scroll down to the index of Sun Signs—meaning Aries, Taurus, etc.  Your Sun Sign is determined by your date of birth.  In case you do not know your Sun Sign, look under the title, Aries, Taurus, etc., and find your correct birth date and Sun Sign.

We can learn much about self from studying our Sun Sign.  The Sun Sign represents our Soul and is described according to Alan Oken’s three levels of spiritual growth:  1. Personality level, 2. Awakening to the Soul-Personality Relationship, and 3. Soul Centered Level.

The level of spiritual growth needed for ascension is illustrated in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs by the 5th Step – Self-Actualization.  Likewise, the level of spiritual growth needed for ascension is illustrated in much greater detail in the Astrological Natal Chart by the Soul Centered Level.  Using these two indicators can be an excellent resource for us as we increasingly strive to progress on our spiritual evolutionary path to ascension.

I encourage all to embark on this very exciting journey of self-discovery and knowledge.  Knowing self is the way to self-esteem … to being who you really want to be … and the pathway to ascension.

Godspeed in your efforts!

ASTROLOGY: SACRED OR TABOO?

Astrology: Sacred or Taboo?

 Nancy B. Detweiler, M.Ed., M.Div.

Excerpts from my book A NEW AGE CHRISTIAN

…. The more I investigate astrology, the more I wonder why people in the West view it with such disdain. After all, it is the most ancient of sciences. I can see how shallow the newspaper horoscopes are. Do people really believe these general predictions are the substance of astrology?

I am finding answers to my questions in astrology—persuasive answers. I am acquiring a way to understand people far superior to the psychological tests we use in the rehabilitation evaluations. The interpretations of these tests are too general. One after another, they all sound about the same. But alas, constructing the natal chart and interpreting it takes too long to be feasible in my work. Besides, in many cases, locating the exact birth time proves to be a problem.

Dreaming of the day I can study whole series of natal charts for particular disabilities, such as mental retardation and mental illness, I focus upon fine-tuning my interpretative skills. I find in astrology massive evidence for a God of love.

Dane Rudhyar calls the natal chart the individual’s “celestial name.”8 It is a map of the soul that, if used correctly, guides the person in selecting the most beneficial ways to live out this earth plane existence. The whole spectrum of choices is visible in the natal chart. God’s overall divine plan is stamped on the chart. This divine plan represents the most positive way for the soul to unfold during its incarnation on planet Earth. A passage of Scripture comes to mind: “Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.”9

Is God’s book the natal chart? All of my life, I have heard and believed that God has a role for each of us in the divine plan. No one seems to know how we find out this role. “Ask God to guide you” is the answer I get whenever I question a minister or teacher. This is easier said than done. I can seek God’s guidance and believe I receive an answer, but I still want a sign of verification. Requesting and accepting God’s guidance is particularly difficult for the person who lacks ego strength and really has no clue as to the existing positive abilities. We all need outside help.

A God of love will not send us into a physical incarnation without also providing the means by which we can know the divine plan for our lives. Astrology is one of these means. It is a science of soul transformation. The natal chart reveals our unique positive and negative aspects. We utilize the chart correctly when we use our freewill to choose to focus on and develop the positive aspects. As we do so, the negative aspects act as lessons to be learned. If we choose to be lazy and simply allow life to happen to us, the negative aspects may become our predominant personality characteristics. We may never realize the positive aspects.

God’s love for us is evident in the configuration of the natal chart. I see some very difficult charts, but inevitably the positive aspects or influences of strength needed to overcome obstacles are always present. Having access to our natal chart gives us an overview of the possibilities in our lives. We can then freely choose the way in which we relate to these alternatives. We can live with our eyes open, rather than stumble around in the dark, wondering what purpose our lives have.

I can feel God’s love as I construct a chart. Astrology is based upon an intimate interconnection with the entire universe. This universal connection is mirrored to us in myriad intricate ways; the planets and stars in our universe are one of them. Just as the Moon affects the ebb and flow of the ocean waves, so the planets and stars in our universe affect us. I find it comforting to know that I am a vital part of the universe. I have a celestial name given to me by the universe in which I live. The young man with cerebral palsy has a celestial name. The quadriplegic college student has a celestial name. Even the small boy, locked in a distorted body without the ability to speak, has a celestial name. God does not allow those, born with deformities of body or minds challenged in their ability to comprehend, to enter this physical life without a means of learning their celestial name. And in that name can be found purpose and meaning in their present lives. Feel the difference it makes when we realize these young people have a celestial name.

God is love.

Why is our Western society ignoring this valuable healing tool—the natal chart? Part of the reason is that astrology is associated with the occult, a word that seems to conjure up all sorts of weird fantasies. Some people believe the occult is Satanism, black magic, witches, evil.

The word occult simply means “not revealed, secret, hidden from view.” It deals with “matters regarded as involving the action or influence of supernatural or supernormal powers or some secret knowledge of them.”10 The miracles of Jesus can be termed “occult” because we cannot explain how they happen. Jesus’ miracles are evidence that he knows more about the supernatural world than we do. Does this make the occult a negative reality to be feared?

Yes and No. Humanity has, from time immemorial, sought to use all knowledge for its own selfish gain. Access to and knowledge of the supernatural is a temptation many seize upon for their personal gain. Jesus faces the temptation of using his knowledge of the supernatural for his own gain during his forty days in the wilderness. He knows he can transform the stones around him into bread; that angels are capable of preventing a fall from high places; that he can use his knowledge of the supernatural to seize nations and set up his own kingdom on Earth. Jesus can choose to misuse his understanding of the supernatural or the occult. The difference between Jesus and many human beings is that he has the spiritual strength and integrity to resist these temptations. Jesus chooses to use his knowledge of the occult in ways that bring healing to humanity. Personal gain is not Jesus’ agenda.

In the hands of Jesus, the occult is not a negative reality. In the hands of many human beings, it is used in negative ways. The occult itself is neutral. It is simply knowledge of the supernatural. How we humans choose to use our occult, or supernatural, knowledge determines whether or not it is a positive or negative reality.

Thus our human inclination to misuse all knowledge for our selfish gain is to be feared, not the occult. Occult knowledge, such as astrology, can be extremely helpful when used in beneficial ways.

Another frequent criticism of astrology is that it reduces human beings into puppets of the stars. This is one of the inherent dangers in the misuse made of astrology. God created humanity in God’s own image, with the gift of freewill. However, accepting the responsibility for our choices and the resulting consequences is not easy. Many of us would rather be puppets and place the blame for the circumstances in our lives upon something outside ourselves. Astrology can be an easy target. Instead of viewing the chart configuration as a map of the soul’s possibilities, it can be misused and read as “this is how things are.” A road map offers a choice. We study the map and follow the route best suited to our travel plans. There is seldom only one way to reach a destination. Used correctly, astrology does not interfere with our freewill. It simply points out for us the range of options available. We are to use our freewill in defining the route we wish our lives to take. Examining our natal chart, then making informed decisions, we realize God’s divine plan for our lives. It is a gift from God. Our chart configuration reveals to each of us that we are an indispensable, unique member of God’s created order and plan. We belong. We have purpose. We are important ingredients in the whole scheme of creation.

Some say the Bible tells us not to use astrology. Before we can see what the Bible really says about astrology, we must define three words that tend to be used interchangeably.

1. Astrology is the study of the positions of the planets in relationship to each other and the vibrational influences these relationships have upon humanity. Astrology is both a science and an art. It is a science because constructing the chart is based upon exacting mathematical calculations of the planets’ positions at the time of birth. It is an art because it depends upon the skill and metaphysical knowledge used in the interpretation of these planetary positions. The Wise Men from the East, who come to pay homage to the baby Jesus, are astrologers.11

2. Magic is an attempt by human beings to compel a divinity, by the use of physical means, to do what they wish that divinity to do.12 Moses’ bronze serpent in the wilderness is an example of the use of magic.13 This definition of magic also applies to the traditional interpretation of Jesus’ death on the cross. “And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.”14

3. Divination is an “attempt to secure information, also by the use of physical means, about matters and events that are currently hidden or that lie in the future. With divination, in contrast to magic, one does not seek to alter the course of events, only to learn about them.”15 The Bible depicts numerous avenues of divination. Among them are oracles, signs, calling up the dead, dream interpretation, casting of lots, visions, and the ephods.16 An ephod is a method of divination, used by the priests to determine God’s response to a “yes” or “no” question asked by the leader of the people. These ephods are called Urim and Thummim. They are worn by the priest in a pouch over the heart.”17

An example of divination by the ephod may be found in Numbers 27:21. “But he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the decision of the Urim before the Lord; at his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all Israelites with him, the whole congregation.”

The knowledge of astrology, magic, and divination can also be misused for personal gain, to make puppets out of human beings, and to supplant faith in God. Isaiah 47:12-15 speaks to this misuse. “Stand fast in your enchantments and your many sorceries, with which you have labored from your youth; perhaps you may be able to succeed, perhaps you may inspire terror. You are wearied with your many consultations; let those who study the heavens stand up and save you, those who gaze at the stars, and at each new moon predict what shall befall you. See, they are like stubble, the fire consumes them; they cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. No coal for warming oneself is this, no fire to sit before! Such to you are those with whom you have labored, who have trafficked with you from your youth; they all wander about in their own paths; there is no one to save you.”

The individual character of the practitioner determines the level on which the Bible places astrology, magic, and divination. Three levels are evident. The astrologers (or Wise Men of Matthew 2) and the Chaldeans, who have priestly functions, (of Daniel 1 and 2) rank on the highest level.18 Daniel is among those highest ranked: “There is a man in your kingdom who is endowed with a spirit of the holy gods. In the days of your father he was found to have enlightenment, understanding, and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods. Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, made him chief of the magicians, enchanters, Chaldeans, and diviners.”19

The second, or middle, level consists of sorcerers, enchanters, and charmers.20 Sorcerers use the power gained from the evil spirits in their work.21 Revelation 21:8 and 22:15 include sorcerers in the list of those who will not enter the kingdom of God.22

On the lowest level we find the “impostors” of II Timothy 3:13: “But wicked people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived.”23 The magician in Acts 13:6-11 is an example of the impostor.24

According to the level on which we focus, we can verify that the Bible favors divination or that the Bible warns against it. Astrology is considered a form of divination. At its highest level, we have the Astrologers/Wise Men reading the planetary aspects and recognizing that the long-awaited Messiah has incarnated on earth plane. On the in-between and lower levels, we have definite prohibitions. These prohibitions are based on both the negative use of occult knowledge and the negative character of the practitioners.

I find only one biblical reference in which the higher forms of astrology, magic, and divination can possibly be prohibited. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 reads: “No one shall be found among you who makes a son or daughter pass through fire, or who practices divination, or is a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer, or one who casts spells, or one consults ghosts or spirits, or who seeks oracles from the dead. For whoever does these things is abhorrent to the Lord; it is because of such abhorrent practices that the Lord your God is driving them out before you.” This one reference sits within a biblical milieu that supports a positive use of astrology, magic, and divination. The Bible warns against using the occult for personal aggrandizement.

The Old Testament does condemn bowing down to the stars and planets to worship them as gods.25 Worshipping the stars is one thing. Using our celestial name, the natal chart, as a guide to fulfill our highest potential as cherished individuals within God’s scheme of creation is another. Worshipping is misuse. Implementing the natal chart as a road map for the soul’s positive development is to accept one of God’s gifts to humanity.

In the West, we are also advocates of empirical science. If we cannot see it and prove it, we tend to dismiss it as non-existent or superstition. We say, “Only the uneducated fool would dabble in astrology, magic, or divination.” We, then, lift our heads in a display of intellectual superiority.

When we do so, we ignore historical facts. Our Western history books have hidden the history of astrology under the category of astronomy. The heavenly configurations have fascinated humanity from its earliest beginning.

Astrology and astronomy were established as sciences around 5000 B.C.E. in Chaldea and Babylonia.26 Many of the great names in the history of our world civilization were astrologers. Our Western history books simply call them philosophers, astronomers, doctors of medicine, theologians, politicians, mathematicians—ignoring the fact that astrology played a major role in their lives and thinking.

Born in 572 B.C.E., Pythagoras, as a result of his study of the heavenly configurations, knew the Earth is round. Many of our history books ignore this fact. Through his study of the stars and their relationship to humanity (the science of astrology), Pythagoras developed his doctrine of the harmony existing between the heavens and our planet Earth, the macrocosm of the universe and the microcosm of humanity. After his murder, Empedocles, Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle continued the study of this doctrine.27 Aristotle taught that our planet is inescapably linked to the motions of the cosmos of which it is a member.28

From the earliest times, doctors of medicine are fascinated by the science of astrology. Hippocrates, born around 460 B.C.E. and known as the “Father of Medicine,” used astrology as the most scientific means of diagnosis available to the Greek physicians of his time. The Hippocratic School of Medicine focused on the study of the natal chart to determine the specific make-up of their parents.29 Galen, born in 30 C.E., is called the “Father of Experimental Physiology.” His treatise Prognostication of Disease by Astrology resulted in widespread knowledge of astrological medicine. A synthesis of medical thought and astrological medical knowledge, Galen’s books dominated the field of medicine for 1500 years.30

Born around 100 C.E., Ptolemy had the reputation for being the greatest astrologer/astronomer of all times. During Ptolemy’s day, “astrologia” and “astronomia” meant the same thing.31 His Tetrabiblos marked the culmination of astrological thought in the Graeco-Roman world. This book marked the end of the controversy concerning astrology. Tetrabiblos laid the foundation for the modern science of astrology. From that point on to the 17th century, astrology and medicine were allies.32

The 13th century poet Dante taught that the primary moving force for both God and humanity is love. He believed the heavenly host of stars and planets turned under the radiating influence of love. For Dante, physical life is explained in terms of the spiritual.33

Roger Bacon, born in 1214, taught the stars are regulated by angelic intelligences. An individual’s personal nature is determined by the heavenly configurations at the time of birth. Medical astrology is valid because the functions of the physical body are determined by the influence of the stars.34

Born around 1224, Thomas Aquinas is still considered to be one the great Christian theologians. He placed importance upon the science of astrology in the study of natural science. According to Aquinas, God rules the inferior creatures—our earthly bodies—through superior creatures—the stars. Both Bacon and Aquinas believed the rational soul of humanity and the gift of freewill to be exempt from stellar influence.35

Paracelsus was the most renowned and controversial advocate of astrology during the 15th century. Paracelsus taught that activity within the cosmos affects all else. Though he recognized the influence of the stars, he did not believe they completely controlled the destinies of humanity. Instead, he felt that humanity has the capacity to transcend the astrological influence of the stars. The means by which humanity can transcend the stellar influence is wisdom, acquired by the direct study of nature.36

Jerome Cardan, born in 1501, was one of the best minds of his age. A great mathematician, physician, and astrologer, Cardan distinguished himself by the cautious way in which he approached his research, seeking to confirm his assertions with solid facts. Appointed professor of medicine at Pavia in 1547, his published works on algebra and astrology brought him fame throughout Europe.37

In the late 15th century, the Roman church condemned astrology. Yet astrology continued to influence the greatest of minds. Among these is Nostradamus, a physician and astrologer born in 1503. Two great English scientists and astrologers were Edmond Halley, born in 1656, and Isaac Newton, born around 1642. Their laws of motion provided a firm foundation for astrological computation. Francis Bacon, born in 1561, recognized the connection between celestial and terrestrial phenomena; however, he opposed the natal chart and consulting astrology for predictions. He declared astrology to be filled with superstition in his De Augmentis Scientiarum.38

The list of great minds continues. Shakespeare, an astrologer in addition to being a playwright, depicted his characters using astrology correctly. William Lilly, born in 1602, and Nicholas Culpepper, born in the early 1600’s, were physicians who used medical astrology. Though modern astronomers seek to ignore the fact, Copernicus, Kepler (the “founder of modern astronomy and astrology”), and Galileo were all astrologers.39

Galileo’s experience offers an excellent example of how the Church hierarchy has controlled the information available to the laity. Born in 1564, a great inventor, experimental philosopher, and astrologer, Galileo invented the telescope. As a result of the telescope, new scientific discoveries were made. Galileo attempted to reconcile these scientific discoveries with the Christian faith in a series of articles: “Letters of Sunspots,” “Letter to Castelli,” and “Letter to the Grand Duchess Christina.” His work was to no avail. In 1615, a group of eleven theologians pronounced Galileo’s belief in heliocentric theories absurd, heretical, and contrary to the Scriptures. In 1633, a papal court sentenced Galileo to prison. Galileo recanted belief in the Copernican theory that the Earth moves around the Sun and was placed under house arrest in the custody of a friend.40

Born in 1596, Descartes believed it important to record the positions of the planets at the moment of birth because immediately after birth, the brain tissues set themselves and conserve throughout life the first impressions they received.41

During the four hundred years since Descartes, the empirically based scientific community has sought to deny the validity of astrology. However, it has been unable to prove any falsehoods in astrological beliefs. Instead, an increasing number of scientists are actually studying the impact of the stars and planets upon humanity. They are even willing to speak out for astrology.42 In fact, scientific evidence now demonstrates that astrology works.43

World renown psychiatrist Carl Jung believed that “synchronicity” explains how astrology works. Planets do not cause certain events. Instead, they are symbols of cosmic forces. The patterns they form synchronize with events on our planet Earth. In later life, Jung used the natal chart as a tool for working with his patients.44

Additional examples of scientists investigating and verifying cosmic influences are available. RCA has determined that the positions of planets affect radio disturbances. Others have verified that planetary positions influence the occurrence of earthquakes; recorded the influence of particular planetary relationships upon incidences of road accidents; shown that the position of planets alters the biological clocks of humans, animals, and plants; and verified that the phases of the Moon influences human behavior.45

The more I search, the more evidence I find of the tremendous role the science of astrology has played in the history of our western civilization. Now, more than ever, I have to ask, “Why does our society so firmly deny the positive effects of studying astrology?”

No justifiable answer comes to mind.

ARE WE BEING WHO WE REALLY WANT TO BE?

ARE WE BEING WHO WE REALLY WANT TO BE?

Nancy B. Detweiler, M.Ed., M.Div.

Our world is in a tremendous state of flux.  A natural reaction to living in a constantly changing world is to cling to the familiar, even when it does not ring true to our heart’s knowing.  We seek to belong, to be acceptable to others, to find solace in something outside ourselves.  Few of us dare to be who we really want to be.  Even fewer are consciously aware that we would be very different if we were living authentic lives.   Instead, we pretend to be content living as one among many.  We fear standing out, being noticed as a unique individual, or having others perceive us as out of step.

As 2011 draws to a close and the magnificent, transforming energies of 2012 emerge, we need to pause and assess where we are and who we really want to be.  2012 is to be a time of growth in consciousness, of ascending to an expanded level of comprehending life and our role in it.  2012 is to be the beginning of our opportunity to create a loving, peaceful society … to reunite with our galactic brothers and sisters … to become a galactic society.

In order to take advantage of these marvelous conditions for spiritual growth, we need to honestly evaluate our present way of life.  Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs provides an excellent avenue for determining where we stand in our spiritual evolutionary process.

If our goal is ascension, we need to be living in accordance with the 5th Step – Self-Actualization.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

It is important to be honest with self.  As we ponder each Step in the hierarchy, ask:  “Does this Step depict the needs on which I tend most often to focus?  At this point in time, few of us will be focusing completely on any one Step, so determine the Step that best describes you.  I am using Kendra Cherry listing of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.[i]

First Step = Physiological Needs – The basic survival needs of food, air, water, and sleep.  Lacking adequate amounts of these elemental needs renders us unable to satisfactorily take the next Step on the pyramid.

Second Step = Security Needs – Although these needs are important, they do not determine whether or not we can function well within society.  Security needs are safety, shelter from the environment, health care, and a means of earning a steady income.

Third Step = Social Needs – These needs constitute essential ingredients for human wholeness and well-being.  We need to feel that we belong within a group of meaningful relationships, to experience familial and romantic love.  Involvement in social, community, and spiritually oriented activities enhances personal fulfillment.

Fourth Step = Esteem Needs – Once the above three Steps are satisfied, we need to experience being appreciated, success in an endeavor, genuine praise, personal worth, a feeling that our lives count for something—that our presence makes a difference.

Fifth Step = Self-Actualizing Needs – This Step signifies the peak experiences in being.  At this stage of spiritual evolution, we may attain ascension into the higher dimensions of consciousness.  To be self-actualized is to be who we really want to be, to have knowledge of our own self-worth, to be whole within self.  It entails knowing that we are spirit beings having a human experience.  We no longer are dependent upon the approval of others; we dare to be authentic regardless of what others think.

Self-actualized individuals accept others for who they are; there is no need to belittle, criticize, or be prejudiced.  Kendra Cherry[ii] lists Maslow’s characteristics of a self-actualized individual to which I have added a few comments:

1.  Self-acceptance & democratic world view – there is no discrimination against  certain religious, racial, economic, or social groups.  All persons are accepted for who they present themselves to be.  Acceptance of self entails an honest knowledge of self—we are not pretending to be something we are not.  No apologies are made for who we really are.

2.  Realistic – the self-actualized individual feels free to explore and seek Truth without fear of being condemned or shunned by others.  We can analyze and discern the real motivations behind particular actions or behaviors.  Fear of the unknown is not a controlling factor.

3.  Problem-centered – the self-actualized individual is motivated by a strong sense of responsibility and personal ethics.  The desire to assist in creating a better life for everyone is often a driving force.

4.  Peak experiences – a self-actualized life is often gifted with peak experiences.  Maslow defines peak experiences:  “Feelings of limitless horizons opening up to the vision, the feeling of being simultaneously more powerful and also more helpless than one ever was before, the feeling of ecstasy and wonder and awe, the loss of placement in time and space with, finally, the conviction that something extremely important and valuable had happened, so that the subject was to some extent transformed and strengthened even in his daily life by such experiences.”[iii]

5.  Autonomy – the self-actualized individual does not conform to the ideas of others regarding what constitutes happiness or contentment.  Achieving the American dream or keeping up with the Joneses is not a motivating factor with the self-actualized—we more easily Live in the Now.

6.  Solitude and Privacy – these conditions are important for the self-actualized, for it is within solitude that we discover who we really are and how to attain self-fulfillment.  Feeling the need to always be with others is a sign that we are not comfortable with who we are pretending to be.

7.  Philosophical sense of humor – the self-actualized generally possess a thoughtful sense of humor.  We can laugh at ourselves and situations that occur, but do not enjoy humor derived at the expense of others.

8.  Spontaneity – the tendencies to be open, nonconventional, and spontaneous characterize the self-actualized.  We generally conform to social expectations, but do not feel confined by them.

9.  Enjoy the journey – Although self-actualized individuals have concrete goals, we do not view particular methods as simply a-means-to-an-end.  The journey toward the goal is just as important and enjoyable as attaining the goal.  That the goal be achieved honorably is essential.

Once we ascertain the Step within the Needs Hierarchy on which we are personally functioning, we can see a map for our lives unfold before us.  Regardless of the Step on which we presently stand, we all have the inalienable divine right  to call to God, our angels, and our spirit guides, requesting their assistance in preparing us for ascension.  That help is ever-present, waiting on an invitation to intervene in our lives.  Because we live on a freewill planet, we must ask, be ready to listen, and follow our personal divine guidance.  Remember we are learning to be self-sufficient, to be whole within self, to know that we are child gods make in Creator God’s image.

 **********************

How we relate to the world around us greatly depends upon how authentic we are in our self-expression.  For this reason, it is essential to look at ways by which we are controlled by others.  This can be a painful process, but a necessary one if we truly desire to stand on Step 5 and ascend into higher consciousness.

1.  We are taught in a variety of ways—subtle and overt—that in order to belong to a particular religion, political party, or group, we must adhere to what that group stands for.  If we fail to do so, the common practice is some form of shunning, even to the point of excommunication.

If we are choosing ascension, we must evaluate what each group to which we belong represents.  We must ask:  “Does this group stand for what resonates in my heart as being authentic to who I truly am?  Does it require that I hand over my power to its leaders?  Does it allow me to continue on my journey towards ascension?”  We must be congruent within and without.  We must learn to think for ourselves … to seek Truth on our own.  Someone else’s truth can cripple our own spiritual growth.

The painful lesson involved is that, without exception, all groups resemble far more closely 3rd dimensional plane of duality thinking as contrasted with the perfection we will find on the 5th dimensional plane of Divine Love & Light.  We have yet to adopt 5th dimensional thinking.  In plain language, we live within a matrix of lies that has existed for thousands of years.  That’s what 2012 and ascension is all about—we are waking up to the lies that have controlled and enslaved us.

An example that is breathtaking when we discover the contrast in the dictionary/thesaurus meanings and synonyms of two words we hear blasted over the communication media on a continual basis.  Our society encourages us to choose:  conservative or liberal.  Both sides demonize the other.  What we are seeing in our current political arena is a final war between the two.  Let’s look at the meanings/synonyms as presented on www.dictionary.com  and www.thesaurus.com.

Definition of Conservative – (www.dictionary.com) – disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.

Synonyms for Conservative – (www.thesaurus.com – using the underlined synonyms) – bourgeois, controlled, conventional, constant, fearful, firm, guarded, inflexible, obstinate, quiet, [the] right, orthodox, sober, steady, stable, unchanging, timid, traditional.

Definition of Liberal – (www.dictionary.com) – favorable to progress or reform, as in religious and political affairs.

Synonyms for Liberal – (www.thesaurus.com – using the underlined synonyms) – advanced, avant-garde, broad, enlightened, flexible, free, humanitarian, indulgent, intelligent, interested, [the] left, lenient, loose, magnanimous, radical, rational, reasonable, receptive, tolerant, unbiased, unconventional, understanding, unorthodox.

Both conservative and liberal  have additional synonyms listed on this website in case you would like to see them.

Which describes you as you are presently expressing self?  Is this the authentic you?  Both Conservatives and Liberals have heretofore played a vital role in maintaining an orderly society on the plane of duality.  However, as we move into 2012, the conservative characteristics will not easily fit into the transformation that will take us into 5th dimensional thinking and creating.  Everything is changing—literally everything.

2.  Another common way by which we are very subtly controlled amounts to lying to the public via the use of dysphemism – the substitution of an offensive word with one more neutral or carrying a favorable connotation.  Example:  The results of war are described with the words collateral damage  instead of openly saying killed.  In this way, the true extent of war damage is not revealed—unless we are wise enough to research on our own.

Code names accomplish the same goal of withholding information from the public.   Example:  Project Blue Book – could there be a more neutral name?  It gives absolutely no clue to the public.  In truth, between 1947-1969, the United States Air Force actively investigated reports and sightings of UFOs.  This research project was identified by the code name Project Blue Book.  Unless we are thinking for ourselves and research on our own, we remain ignorant as to how our tax money is spent.

To accept at face value what the authorities tell us is to function on Step 3, where the need to belong is stronger than the urge to step outside the group and investigate for ourselves.  Once we emerge from this need to belong, it is far more difficult for others to control us.

3.  An additional method of subtle control is through the use of talking points.  Talking points are devised to assist one side in a debate or competition.  Because the motive is winning, not truth-telling, talking points possess various degrees of factual information.  Example:  During the 2010 mid-term elections, a major talking point was “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs.”  As politicians prepare for the 2012 elections, a suggestion has been made that the talking point “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs” be changed to “Careers”—a word that connotes both a higher paying and more permanent means of earning a living.

We have the option of blindly going along with the new talking point or doing our own research into the difference between job and career.  Checking the dictionary can be a valuable practice.  Let’s do so.

The definition for a job = “a piece of work, especially a specific task done as part of the routine of one’s occupation or for an agreed price.  She gave him the job of mowing the lawn.”  (www.dictionary.com)

The definition for a career = “an occupation or profession, especially one requiring special training, followed as one’s lifework.  He sought a career as a lawyer.”  (www.dictionary.com)

The use of a dictionary and thesaurus alone can begin the process of empowering us to better understand the language of those in power?  As we seek information on our own, we embark on the journey from Step 3 to Step 5.  We learn to think for ourselves.

 **************

Thinking for self is a prerequisite for reaching Step 5.  As long as we allow others to tell us what we are to think, how we are to act, what we are to do, we give away our power to be authentically who we are.  This does not mean that we behave in ways that harm others.  Instead, we make God’s Universal Laws the foundation of our lives.

Self-actualization is the peak of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the stepping stone to ascension.  To be self-actualized is to be consciously aware of self as a child god made in the image of Creator God.  It is the manifestation of our authentic self, in accordance with Jesus’ teaching as he quoted Psalm 82:6, “You are gods.”  (John 10:34)

Godspeed to all as we strive to be who we really want to be!

THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, WE FIND OURSELVES AT A PLANETARY CROSSROADS

THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, WE FIND OURSELVES AT

A PLANETARY CROSSROADS

Written & Compiled by Nancy Detweiler

A major holiday season approaches for large portions of the population of Planet Earth.  We find ourselves at a planetary crossroads.  Finally, the people of the world are awakening to a life they do not desire and that does not have to be.

How did we get here?  What can we do about it?

May I suggest that we spend a portion of this holiday season answering these questions.  To assist you, I am listing resources for you to read and view.

Let’s begin with:  How did we get here?

“Oh, The Lies We’ve Been Told”

Before we can truly walk the Way of Love, we must awaken to the many lies we have been told by those in power positions.  The most devastating of these lies relate to who we are as human beings living on Planet Earth.  These lies include the following, but are by no means the extent of the matrix of illusions by which we live…………….

“How Is The Matrix of Lies Perpetuated?”

Earth humans reside in a matrix of lies or, as metaphysicians would say, a world of illusions.

Many of the concepts upon which we build our lives are merely illusions.  How are these lies perpetuated?  Do not intelligent people recognize the lie?  I’ll list a few of the methods used in order to give us an opportunity to awaken to what is really going on around us…………….

What can we do about it?

“So Who Are We, Really?”

Part 1

The only reason we can be controlled by lies is that we do not know who we truly are.  We are regularly taught:  you have one body, one life.  How many times daily are we bombarded with the Boniva Advertisement “I have just this one body and this one life?”  And that’s in case we forget what the preponderance of religious observers are taught:  “Only one life to live.”

In anatomy class, we learn about the physical body with no mention of the other bodies that encircle the physical.  Instead, we learn we are our physical body.  We are taught this body was originally conceived when our parents’ egg and sperm united.  We came to life in the womb and were born into the one physical plane life we have been granted.

Philosophy class strives to extend our concept of self.  We were born into an existential life experience in an unfathomable universe.  Religion class proclaims we are “born in sin” and explains life in terms of a three layered universe:  the physical plane, heaven, and hell.  We burn in hell for eternity if we fail to obey the doctrines of a particular religion.  Psychology class teaches we consist of the id, the ego, and the superego.  We possess five senses:  touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste.  Our perception of life is limited to what we can see with our physical eyes.  We proudly state, on the basis of our intellectual learning, “I’ll believe it when I see it” or “I’m from the show-me state.”

Problem is … 99.9% of Truth is invisible to the physical eyes and therefore not attainable by an intellect that knows only what it can experience physically—in person or vicariously through books, documentaries, etc.  In addition, since we habitually use only about 10% of our physical brain power, we really are ignorant of Truth!

So, who are we … really?…………………

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

A TRUE STORY FOR ALL YOUNG ADULTS!

A True Story for All Young Adults!

Written on 11/11/11 by Nancy Detweiler

On this most powerful energetic day–11/11/11–I honor Jamie, one of my granddaughters!

Many young adults are having such financial difficulties that it cripples them from expressing who they truly are.

I honor Jamie because she has allowed nothing to stop her.  We were able to have a short lunch together yesterday.  She told me that she has experienced her most successful year–successful to the point of not having to worry over paying her bills, which for someone self-employed is a tremendous accomplishment!  She added that she felt so loved and surrounded by angels … that ever since she began asking the angels for assistance, her business has soared!

I watched Jamie go through the tremendous emotional trauma of a divorce while still in her twenties.  I watched her carry the load of paying off bills relating to her marriage, with little or no help from her former husband.  I watched her quit a job in which she was unhappy, and with no savings or financial backing go out on her own.  She did this at a time when the economy made things very tough.  I’ve watched through the years as she never gave up, even when she was under tremendous emotional and financial stress.  She has done this knowing that if she could not pay her student college loan, she could not declare bankruptcy — there is NO forgiveness for failing to pay off a student loan.

And now, at age 30, she has made it–at a time when numerous much more well-established businesses had to close!  And soon, we will have a new economic system that will provide far greater opportunities for our young adults to follow their Soul’s path and use their God-given talents.  Jamie has crossed the bridge to a bright future as a professional photographer!

Working on your own is an experience that only those who have done so can understand.  To work with the pressure of knowing that if you do not earn what you need today, the monthly bills won’t get paid tomorrow is something others can not comprehend.  Others have a set salary that comes whether or not they have worked diligently that week or spent it goofing off. Others have back up in a spouse’s salary—an environment I do not call “working on your own.”

Working on your own involves … no paid vacation … no paid sick leave … no co-paid health insurance … no co-payment on FICA … no taxes withheld.  The individual who truly works on her own has absolutely no back-up assistance.  She alone must do it all, with no let up of effort!

Why would anyone choose to work on her own?  To be true to who she is … to use her talents in the way she chooses … to be free to innovate without having to abide by someone else’s demands.  The pay-off is earning a living while not knowing whether you are playing or working!  I don’t know the self-employed person who has made it that would voluntarily return to a “job.”  Most often “a job” means stifling who you truly are in deference to another’s demands.

To the self-employed, “making it” does not mean a new home, new car, and lots of material possessions.  Instead, “making it” is the joy of fulfilling your Soul’s Plan … of using your talents to make a difference in the world … of allowing who you are as a unique spark of divinity to unfold in ways that grant you and others moments of ecstasy … of knowing that you live your life fulfilling your individual role in the overall Divine Plan for humanity!

Jamie has done this and I am extremely proud of her!  She has proven in a very tangible form that “With God, all things are possible!”

That affirmation goes for all young adults who are frustrated and struggling with student loans, no “job” or a job they do not enjoy, and a very difficult economy. The answer to your dilemma could very well be that you need to follow your dream, your passion, your talents.  Once we embark on our Soul’s Path, the Way opens for us!

“Seek first [your unique place in] the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”  (Matthew 6:33)  To be “righteous” means to abide by the Universal Laws, not simply the man-made laws of a particular group or society.
