 American Flag

All citizens …have duties as well as rights.”

Constitution of Virginia, Article I, Section 15

As citizens of the American republic and its government of the people, by the people, for the people, you and I are responsible for the actions perpetrated in our name and with our tax monies.

Sadly, we Americans have forfeited our responsibilities as citizens. We call our nation’s founding documents inspired, but are we inspired by them? Do we recognize, in the words of Mortimer J. Adler, that citizenship is the only permanent political office? Are we fulfilling our office of citizenship in ways that honor the unalienable rights bestowed on all human beings by our Creator?

We have only to behold what this nation has become to realize that we—the citizens of America—have allowed those whose goal it is to control the world and enslave humanity to take over.

In the words of Howard Zinn, in his A People’s History of the United States (initial copyright 1980):

“The American system is the most ingenious system of control in world history …. There is none that disperses its controls more complexly through the voting system, the work situation, the church, the family, the school, the mass media—none more successful in mollifying opposition with reforms, isolating people from one another, creating patriotic loyalty. One percent of the nation owns a third of the wealth. The rest of the wealth is distributed in such a way as to turn those in the 99 percent against one another; small property owners against the propertyless, black against white, native-born against foreign-born, intellectuals and professionals against the uneducated and unskilled. These groups have resented one another and warred against one another with such vehemence and violence as to obscure their common position as sharers of leftovers in a very wealthy country.”

The covert transformation of the American Republic into the Corporation of the USA, took place with the clandestine passage of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913.

We—American citizens of 2014—were not present in 1913, but……….we are present today! Do we care how our nation is perceived by the world? Do we care about the horrendous acts of manipulation and destruction that are being carried out with our tax monies? We cannot claim “But, we didn’t know” as an excuse.

As the ONLY PERMANENT OFFICE HOLDERS, we have a responsibility to know and to correct the injustice being committed in our name.

“When a scandal in the 1980s revealed the CIA’s 35 years of international manipulations, President Ronald Reagan established the National Endowment for Democracy as a more discreet and less controversial instrument. It had the same purpose – to destabilise unfriendly governments by funding the opposition.

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) was created in 1983, ostensibly as a non-profit-making organisation to promote human rights and democracy. In 1991 its first president, the historian Allen Weinstein, confessed to The Washington Post: “A lot of what we do today was done covertly 25 years ago by the CIA.” (The Washington Post, 22 September 1991.)

…. The funded organisations sometimes managed to weaken and even eliminate opposition to friendly governments, while creating a climate favourable to US interests. There were coups, such as the one in Brazil in 1964 that overthrew President João Goulart. The coup against Chilean president Salvador Allende in 1973 showed that the US government had not abandoned such methods. Agee claimed: “To prepare the ground for the military, we funded and channelled the forces of leading organisations in civil society and the media. It was an improved version of the coup in Brazil.”

Americans have been manipulated with the words “In US or OUR interests.” Actually the phrase means “In the interest of controlling the world.”

“Just as the US admitted shortly after the so-called “Arab Spring” began spreading chaos across the Middle East that it had fully funded, trained, and equipped both mob leaders and heavily armed terrorists years in advance, it is now admitted that the US State Department through a myriad of organizations and NGOs is behind the so-called “Occupy Central” protests in Hong Kong. [NGO = Non-government organization]

…. Of course, NED [National Endowment for Democracy] and its many subsidiaries including the International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute do no such thing as “promoting democracy,” and instead are in the business of constructing a global network of neo-imperial administration termed “civil society” that interlocks with the West’s many so-called “international institutions” which in turn  are completely controlled by interests in Washington, upon Wall Street, and in the cities of London and Brussels.”

Americans talk a lot about democracy. We call ourselves citizens of a democratic form of government; we say we are spreading democracy around the world. But, what does democracy mean?

Webster’s Law Dictionary, 1996 defines democracy as “government by the people, especially rule of the majority …. Supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representatives usually involving periodically held free elections.”

Three factors stand out in this definition of democracy. First and foremost, the absence of any mention of the law. Second, the rule of majority stands without limitations, thereby opening the door to rule by the mob or by an emotion like fear. Third, free elections are usually held. As part of a legal definition, the presence of the word “usually” is significant. “Usually” leaves room for no free elections.

In contrast to a democracy, Webster’s Law Dictionary, 1996 defines a republic as a “government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and in modern times is usually a president …. Power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law.”

A republic is government based on law. The head of state is not to be a monarch. Power resides with those citizens who are qualified to vote and the duly elected representatives are to be held responsible for their actions by those citizens. By inference, the definition of a republic requires continual involvement of those citizens qualified to vote. How else can the representatives be held accountable?

…. By concentrating on democracy, Americans have lost their way.

Wake up, Americans! We have allowed our nation’s constitution to be trampled into the ground … we have allowed monarchical rule … we have allowed our inalienable rights to be taken from us … we have allowed our governing bodies to fool us into thinking our nation—United States of America—was created to be a democracy … we have allowed corruption to infiltrate and render rotten every part of our society. Our nation is crumbling and Americans have allowed it.

Wake up, Americans! We have lost our way!

Do we care?
